Meet Our Alumni: Rastislav Rehák

26 August, 2025

In the new alumni interview, Rastislav Rehák reflects on his postdoctoral journey at the Max Planck Institute for Research on Collective Goods and the University of Cologne, where he explores new directions in behavioral and environmental economics.

His current work extends from theoretical information economics into new areas, including experimental methods, behavioral biases in decision-making, and the behavioral foundations of climate cooperation. Reflecting on his experience so far, he notes: “A postdoc is a curious mix of freedom and pressure—the freedom to explore new ideas, and the pressure of expectations and proving yourself.”

In the interview, he discusses how his postdoc combines continuity with new directions: building on his PhD foundations while opening research avenues in environmental economics. His research ranges from studying how people process uncertainty to examining subtle biases in hiring and exploring the role of morality in pro-environmental behavior.
