CERGE-EI Received a Grant for its Project from the Jan Ámos Komenský Operational Programme

22 January, 2025

CERGE-EI just launched the project "New Technologies and Transformations of Education, Research and Labour Market" under the leadership of Professor Štěpán Jurajda.

The project was awarded more than 146 million crowns under the call "Social Sciences and Humanities: Man and Humankind Facing the Global Challenges of Today". The implementation of the project will be financed from the Operational Programme Jan Ámos Komenský (OP JAK) until the end of 2028.

In addition to CERGE-EI, the project will involve the Institute of Sociology of the Czech Academy of Sciences, Scio Research and PAQ Research, and will focus on three key areas: new technologies and competences in education; transformations in the system of management and evaluation of science, and the digitization of human capital and the labour market, with an emphasis on gender aspects and ways to reduce gender differences.

The aim of this interdisciplinary project, linking economics, sociology, education and training studies, science studies, gender studies and scientometrics, is to provide new insights with high application potential, especially in the public sphere for the formulation of public policies. These insights will help to address the challenges related to the growing impact of new technologies such as automation, digitization and artificial intelligence on the development of society in the coming decades.

In addition to the principal investigator, Štěpán Jurajda, the project is led by the leaders of the individual research projects – Martin Srholec and Matěj Bělín from CERGE-EI and Radka Dudová from the Institute of Sociology of the Czech Academy of Sciences.

The Jan Amos Komenský Operational Programme (OP JAK) supports lifelong learning and the development of skills needed to adapt to rapid changes such as digitization and climate change. The programme focuses on ensuring the long-term employability of individuals in society and reflects the priority themes funded by the European Union in the 2021-2027 programming period.
